My work is heavily influenced by the idea of navigating life’s trials and tribulations and the vast range of possibilities experienced from one person to the next. Within my practice I attempt to expand on century old conversations concerning existentialist and nihilistic theory in tandem with the looming insecurities surrounding death and purpose. By using both familiar and non familiar mediums I create large scale abstracted experiences to further influence how abstract contemplation can be visualized and received in the 21st century through visual arts.
Jaymerson Payton (b. 1992) is an artist from Atlanta, Georgia. While attending Georgia State University he discovered a passion for 20th century abstract theory and art. His interest in these concepts has lead him down the rabbit hole of creativity where he now finds himself involved in many mediums such as painting, photography, screenwriting, and sculpting. As he continued his quest in the arts after graduation, he displayed his work in a number of galleries and even gained curatorial experience by arranging exhibitions featuring his peers and local Atlanta based artists. He is currently a MFA candidate with California College of the Arts where he plans to complete his postgraduate degree this Spring.
