Yuxuan Li is an artist focusing on painting and jewelry. She attended the Ren Min University of China for her BFA and moved to San Francisco from Shanghai China to attend California College of the Arts in the Master of Fine Art program in 2018. Her paintings explore the transformation of written languages to visual art and the relationship between readers and authors. By using abstract painting as a body to record the emotions on experiences when communicating, and the timeline of reading, Li’s work documents the memory of reading and conversation so that they can become storage for the blank space between the words. Simultaneously, she has been working on her Près de Moi series of jewelry for several years. This series, which she also refers to as the “water” series, explores the relationship between jewelry, nature, and the human body.
